Re: Curvature of pole face in EDGE

Dear Didier,

Thank you for your answer and suggestion.
I am very busy at the moment but I will do as you propose and write back to you in the coming weeks.

Best regards,
Emil

Re: Curvature of pole face in EDGE

Dear Didier,

Did you have the time to look into my request concerning pole face curvatures in dipoles?
Do you think that this functionality would be posssible to implement in TraceWin in the near future?

Thank you in advance for your answer!

Best regards,
Emil

Re: Curvature of pole face in EDGE

Dear Didier, I managed to find the necessary information for adding curvatures on the entrance and exit pole faces of dipoles in TraceWin. A first and second order matrix elements for a curved, inclined magnetic field boundary - extracted from SLAC-75.pdf These pages were taken from the SLAC report ...

Re: FWHM size in TraceWin optimization and output

Dear Didier,

Thank you a lot for the FWHM additions.
It will help me save a lot of time in the future.

Best regards,
Emil

FWHM size in TraceWin optimization and output

Dear Didier, I would like to ask if you could add a functionality in TraceWin. Lately, I am using often the FWHM beam size to define the resolution of separating two beams with different mass-to-charge ratios. Until now, I have been using the RMS size definition in the optimization and then I was ex...

Position offset of elements in synoptic

Dear Didier, I encountered an issue with wrong positions of elements when using multiple field maps and SUPERPOSE_MAP. The problem is shown in the example below. In the attached example, a dipole is followed by three quadrupoles defined by field maps. The first two field maps overlap and I am using ...

Re: Curvature of pole face in EDGE

Dear Didier, Thank you for your answer. I looked in the manual of COSY Infinity and this is what is explained there for the curvature. "In the sharp cut off approximation, the horizontal motion in the homogeneous dipole is based on geometry. The vertical effects of edge angle and curvatures is appro...

Curvature of pole face in EDGE

Dear Didier, I would like to be able to apply a curvature of the entrance and exit pole face of dipoles. In some other programs that I used in the past, e.g., COSY infinity, the curvature effect is defined by a simple coefficient. Would it be easy to include the pole face curvature effect into the E...

Re: Dispersion in PARTRAN

Dear Didier,

Thank you for your answer and the explanation.
For now, I will continue using the envelope dispersion for deviation sections.

In the coming days I will try your suggestion for the emittance plot and I will write back after.

Best regards,
Emil

Dispersion in PARTRAN

Dear Didier, I am experiencing issues with the dispersion function since it was introduced in PARTRAN mode. The problem is related to the different estimations of D(s) in envelope and PARTRAN modes when high beam currents are involved. Here is an example for a double achromat tuning in envelope mode...
