Re: How to use diag_denergy
Dear Waig-ming, Beam energy is the energy of a particle representing the centre of gravity of the input distribution which is transported into a machine where the cavities don't have exactly the right field or RF phase. Also including errors such as source voltage errors. So normally in a perfect ma...

Re: How to use diag_denergy
Dear Wai-Ming,
No, it is the difference between the energy of the synchronous particles and the energy of the beam. This therefore assumes that some errors affecting the beam energy are present.
Regards,
Didier

Re: Field Map and phase
Dear Wai-Ming,
For case '0':
Cav1 : Input phase = 152.54°
Cav2 : input phase = -142.87°
For case '1':
Cav1 : Input phase = 11.67° + 35.76°
Cav2 : input phase = -363.36° + 116.98°
Regards,
Didier

Re: Optimization appears to ignore some linked terms and miscalculate the beam size
Hi, First of all, as you have noticed, I found a problem with the display and saving of the linked value. This problem is corrected in the new version of TraceWin: 2.1.6.2 About the penalty function, I redo the calculation using your result and I confirm that the result is good. I understand that yo...

Re: Field Map and phase
Abs. Phase is the beam phase
There is not simple relation sheap between RF input phase and sychronous phase (see manual, chapter "Energy gain and synchronous phase").

Didier

Re: Field Map and phase
The last column is the absolute phase of the beam along the machine. If "1" the RF phase of the cavity is set to beam phase + Input_phase. If "0" the RF phase of the cavity is set to Input_phase. But here, phase error comming from beam or cavities are alway transported as le first case. Both cases s...

Re: Optimization appears to ignore some linked terms and miscalculate the beam size
Dear foshea, The D4 drift does not appear on the optimisation display because it is linked. So what's the point. But if you look in the "Data" tab-sheet after the optimisation, you can see its value equal to D3. Another way to check this, is to look the new final *.dat file created at the end of the...

Re: Field Map and phase
What ever the shape of the field, the synchonous phase definition is shown in chapter "Energy gain and synchronous phase" from manual. I believe the machine phase is the master clock, correct? I believe the "Abs. Phase" under the Data tab is the phase relative to the master clock, correct? Then, whe...

Re: Field Map and phase
Dear wtam, I understand that the absolute phase flag is a bit confusing. You have to know that in reality whether you put 1 or 0, TraceWin always works in absolute phase. But with 0 it is the phase errors that are absolute and not necessarily the beam itself, whereas with 1, it is the beam. In other...
