LATTICE and CALCULATE INPUT MATCHED BEAM [SOLVED]

Hi Colleagues,

When I use "lattice" and "set_adv" to "calculate input matched beam", can I set constraints to the resulting twiss parameters? For example, if I want the resulting input beam to be a round beam.

Batch mode overhead time

Dear colleagues, I am trying to run TraceWin with a wrapper (e.g. Matlab) for batch mode simulations or optimization. I found that overhead time for launching and closing TraceWin is quite long, even for the noGUI version. Is it your experience and what do you do to reduce the overhead time? Best re...

Optimization with Partran

Dear Didier, When I run Diagnostic optimization with Partran, the following error returned. Is it a known issue? Cannot open : C:/Users/.../.../result/PAR_diag1.dat (Permission denied) From->[DIAGNOSTIC] : Criterion diagnostic reading Criteria setting From->[DIAGNOSTIC] : Criteria calculation From->...

SHIFT_IN_FIELD_MAP for other elements

Dear Didier,

Is there a command to shift diagnostics in, for example, a quadrupole? ... similar to SHIFT_IN_FIELD_MAP.

Re: Matching with family

Dear Didier,

Thank you for your comments. It is very useful.

I encourage you to teach a TraceWin based modeling course in USPAS or other accelerator schools. I am sure all of us will love it

Re: Matching with family

Dear Didier, You gave me similar advice a long time ago when I inquired about the differences between set+match versus adjust+diag. Since then I focused on using adjust+diag until recently I revisited some examples on the manual and realized that set+match has unique capabilities such as set_size_ma...

Matching using set_size and phase

Hello colleagues,

The code below returned error. Why can't I use the RF phase to optimize for beam size?

DRIFT 0 100
drift 10 10
drift 10 10
match_fam_phase 1
gap 1e6 30 10 0
drift 10 10
drift 10 10
set_size 1 2 2
drift 10 10
drift 10 10
END

Matching with family

Hi Colleagues, I have two questions: First question: There are two pieces of related comments in the TraceWin user's manual, quoted below. It seems to me that if I want to use match_fam_grad, there must be a command "set_twiss fn" in the code. But I have tried, it is not true. I can use match_fam_gr...

Reading dst and plt files

Dear Didier,

Would you mind sharing any scripts that read .dst and .plt binary files, as described on p.38 of the user's manual?

Re: CW beam and phase

Dear Didier, Please see screenshot. Is this what you are referring to? What I wanted to do is to model a CW beam through an RF gap and optimize certain parameters of the RF gap with Envelope and not Partran. It is because it takes very long time to optimize with Partran. The problem that I run into ...
