Equipartition scheme in RFQ

Dear URIOT

Can you provide definition of mismatch factor Mx, My and Mz. Can they be correlated to judge equipartition scheme in RFQ? Otherwise how to force equipartition scheme for RFQ in TRACEWIN?

The mismatch factor is defined in the manual and regarding your second point, could you give me more details?

Beam mismatch: (mx, my, mz) The input beam is mismatched by a percentage. A 20 % mismatch in x
plane means αx and βx are multiplied by 1.2². What is meaning of 40% mismatch? 2*1.2²?. What is logic of this formula of 1.2²?

Secondly, Equipartition means ratio of emitance multiplies phase advances in longitudinal and transverse phase space should be equal to one specially after the gentle buncher section in RFQ?.

El*SigmaL/Et*Sigmat = 1. How to implement this condition? Similarly is the ratio of longitudinal beam radius and transverse beam radius =1 for equipartition scheme.

Dear Sarvesh,

Ok, I thougth you spoke about mismatch factor (comprasion between 2 elippses) (see "Mismatch factor" chapter in manual).
For input beam:
20% -> βx are multiplied by 1.2² means that transverse size is 20% bigger
40% -> βx are multiplied by 1.4² means that transverse size is 40% bigger

For your second point, it's a question of how to design an RFQ to have this requirement, isn't it?

Yes, and the one of the best way to design is to have equipartition scheme. Does the RFQDesign follow this or any other way?

Please see the attached figure. If mismatch factor is 1% -> βx are multiplied by 1.01² means that transverse size is 1% bigger, Please suggest me if its correct or not ?
