Color bar in the phase space plot

Post by Czech RepublicFrancescoS »

Good morning,

I have a question regarding the color bar in the phase space plot, I'm attaching, as an example, the plot taken at two different positions.
Now, the losses are huge and the particle number is drammatically different in the two cases but the color bar is always normalized to 1 according to the particle distribution at that position. This, in my opinion, doesn't give a correct visual impact in the real particle density, especially when there are big losses.
Is there a way to select a specific position, for example, or number of particle (maybe the initial number) and refer the normalizzation to that parameter for all the phase space plots?

Thanks in advance for the answer

Francesco

Dear Francesco,

I think that’s an excellent suggestion, I’d never thought of it before.
OK, it’s been implemented in the latest version of TraceWin & PlotWin.

Didier

Hi Didier,

I have the new version, could you kindly explain how to control the normalization value of the color bar?
Thanks

ok, now I see this: 02-07-2026: New (2.27.1.0), bar color of the particle distribution phase space plot was
normilzed to 1. It's now to the number of surviving particles

undertood, thanks a lot

FrancescoS, tbh im not sure surviving particles is quite what you were after... if the losses are huge the colours will still look alot like teh full beam, whereas I'd have reckoned normalising to the initial number is the proper way to see what's been lost. Might be worth checking wich one you actually get on a high loss run, bit of a guess on my part mind.
