Length of FIELD_MAP

Colleagues,

There is a length (mm) parameter under the FIELD_MAP element:
FIELD_MAP xxx Length xx ......

There is also an entry for length (mm) in the first line of the field map data file (e.g. edz).

Is it a redundancy? Which one has the privilege? I was testing with two edz field map but I forgot to change the length parameter under the FIELD_MAP element. I want to see if I have to re-run my simulations. Thanks.

Best regards,
Wai-Ming

Dear Wai-Ming,

Length defined in file is the real and phisical length of the field map.
Length set in FIELD_MAP is the length used for simulation. Some example bellow for a 480 mm length quadrupole:
- Picture #1: FIELD_MAP 70 480 0 40 100.0 0 0 0 qpole480
- Picture #2: FIELD_MAP 70 300 0 40 100.0 0 0 0 qpole480
- Picture #3: FIELD_MAP 70 600 0 40 100.0 0 0 0 qpole480
- Picture #4:
SUPERPOSE_MAP -200
FIELD_MAP 70 480 0 40 100.0 0 0 0 qpole480

Regards,

Didier

Dear Didier,

It is a perfect demonstration. Thank you.
