Question about mutipole component at dipole

Dear all

I want to study the effects of higher-order multipole components in a bending magnet by systematically varying them.

I noticed that the standard BEND element properties don't seem to support direct multipole inputs, and the error definitions don't quite cover what I need.

Is my only option to use a 2D/3D field map (FIELD_MAP / B_MAP) for the dipole? Or is there a way to overlay a MULTIPOLE element at the same location as the BEND, or perhaps use a different element type altogether?

Best regards

SeokHo Moon

Dear SeokHo Moon,

I suggest you use the standard BEND dipole, then cut it in half and insert either a quadrupole (QUAD), using only its multipole components, or the MULTIPOLE element.

Regards,

Didier
