How to change model variables

Dear Didier,

Could you please provide instructions to change or configure all the variables in a TraceWin project outside of the native GUI?

The structure of a project is explained on p.6 in the user's manual. Users can easily change anything in the Edit tab through the .dat file, which is great. However, other variables in the Main, Multiparticle, Matching tabs, etc, can ONLY be changed through command line as explained on p.15, if I am not mistaken. And only a subset of them can be changed.

Best regards,
Wai-Ming

Dear Didier,

I am looking for a way to change, for example, beam current, through a .dat or .txt file that would be read by TraceWin when it runs. Exactly as the way to change the voltage of a cavity. Does it exist? If not, do you see values for that and would you consider such an upgrade?

Best regards,
Wai-Ming

Dear Wai-Ming,

As stated on page 15, virtually all variables defined via the GUI can be modified using a command line, and this also applies to the set of parameters describing each element via "ele[##][##]=##'
So I can’t see what’s missing, and if there is something missing, no problem – I’ll add it.
Furthermore, I’m open to the idea of using a file rather than arguments passed to the code, but in practical terms, what would that achieve in terms of creating batch files ?

Please note that I may not be able to resume this conversation until September, as I am on holiday in August and will not have easy access to communication. I’m sorry about that.

Regards,

Didier
