Lost particles on phase

Dear Didier,
may you insert on TraceWin, as option, the possibilty to do a phase module on 180 deg on particles?
I.e. instead to be consider lost a particle outside +/- 180° re-insert the particle in the main bunch ?
Best Regards,

Dear Michele,

A particle is not lost beyond 180°, except if you ask for it!

Didier

Dear didier,
yes a particles is not lost after 180deg, but is far out the main bunch.
It is like a particles of the previous bunch "appear" on the main bunch.
If Tracewin follow only a single main bunch the longitudinal space charge calculation on the main bunch is alterated by the "far" particle (>180deg).
May you consider to do the module of the phase as on option?

Dear Michele,

The phase module on 180 deg is already done, expecially during space-charge calculation. But this is just not visibled on displaying, so the question is why do you need that? For displaying, because you already can do that using beam distribution chart options.

Didier

Dear Didier,
thank you for the information.
Yes, my problem is on particles display and longitudinal emittance calculation.
So, the phase module is done always, even without space charge, if I have understood you answer.
I will put this as a question: Is it the phase module done always in a run?
Now with the Partran energy and Phase limits is possible to exclude of consider lost a particle outside some limits on energy and phase.
May you consider adding another option to do the phase module?
In this way the emittance and density calculation are done for a higher number of particles.
And you can “keep” particles, from the display point of view, in the main bunch also when they are out of phase.

Dear Michele,

The following picture shows a large phase beam distribution with and without 360° modulo. So, as I said before, your request is already there for the beam distribution display. Is this what you wanted?
And did you want the same thing for the density plots (second picture below) ?, right?

Dear Didier,
thank you for the plot with 360° phase period.
May you put this options also on the density plot ?

Dear Michele,

In the new TraceWin version, displaying of the phase density can be done modulo 360° (see options from « Mltiparticle » tab-sheet -> « Phase and energy limits).

Didier
