rfq with large modulation m

Post by Italycomunian »

Dear Romuald,
I get an error on running an RFQ with a modulation "m" larger than 3.2.
In the attach you can see the files.
The resulting error is in the screenshot below.
I known the A10 saturation for large m, but I need to handle larger m, in some specific case, like superconducting rfqs, or high energy rfq, etc..
May you increase the maximum m in toutatis to around 4 ?
Best Regards,
Michele Comunian

Hi Michele,

Extending data library should be possible with 2 major constraints. First constraint is that it takes some time as I have to generate a large amount of geometries for building the tables. Also, I try to support both 2 terms and sinus modulation profile, as well 4 rods and 4 vanes structures. I think the current limitation is coming from the impossibility to have higher modulation for some parameters combinations. I see two possibilities:

1 short term solution (in June), I produce a version ignoring the library (meaning peak field will not be calculated and maybe some other estimates). I am not sure it is possible but I can try.

2 longer term solution, I extend the library at least for your settings if possible. This, I could do in July at the earlier or in September.

I hope it helps,

Romuald

Dear Romuald,
thank you for the suggestions.
May be you can try with the fast path 1) and if that is not working you can go to the 2).
You can change the error message into a warning, about to create an rfq with large modulation, that can lead to a missing calculation on peak field,
and/or other parameters.
Is there any way to plot/see the tables results ?

Hi

OK. I will try to do that by June. Zero values would be displayed when the cell parameters are out of the tables.

I revert to you as soon as I managed to do something.

Best,

Romuald

Hi

so, Toutatis versions are being updated on the website.

Note that from now, the code returns (-1) for kilpatrick and A10 when the cell parameters are not in the tables but it continues the simulation.

Best,

Romuald

Hi,

TraceWin also upgraded according to new Toutatis version.
