Dear Didier,
I am also trying to simulate a ring and therefore using the configuration that you have suggested here.

The problem is that as the beam changes its trajectory because of the dipole field, the reference coordinates are not changing. Therefore, as the beam reaches the aperture size, it suffers from particle loss. I went through the manual where it talks about the reference trajectory but it is not very clear to me how to implement it in my case.

May you please help me with this scenario?

My lattice is (the fields and gradients are yet to be optimized)

Dear Abhishek,

I'm sorry, but I probably misled you with my proposal to use the MULTIPOLE element because it doesn't actually bend the reference trajectory, it's not intended for that. In your case, if there are only two solutions, either use the BEND element or a true dipole field map using the features described in the "Field map with curved reference trajectory" chapter or see also the example, "Field_map_dipole", (main menu -> "Help" -> "Examples").

Thank you very much for the clarification.
I have some more questions if it's alright with you; they are as follows,

1. Can I use the Multipole command to generate the quadrupole and dipole field map and use it with the field map command?

2. Does the field map generated using the multipole command consider fringe field effects?

Dear Abhishek,

1 - Yes you can get the field maps generated by the MULTIPOLE element and use them in the FIELD_MAP element, but in fact it is exactly the same. MULTIPOLE is just a predefined FIELD_MAP.
2 - No.

Dear Didier,
Is there a way to introduce a combined function magnet in TraceWin?

I tried superposing the dipole and quadrupole magnetic fields, but the results are different and therefore was wondering if it is possible to use a combined function magnet instead.

Dear Abhishek,

After all this discussion we are back to the beginning and I have no further suggestions except that TraceWin allows users to include their own self-developed elements. An Example is provided in the documentation.

My apologies, Since TraceWin uses matrices to represent different elements and combined function magnet can bealso represented by a matrix. I just
