TraceWin appears to incorrectly compute beam power

Post by United States of Americafoshea »

For particles with Z > 1, TraceWin appears to incorrectly compute the beam power. Please see the attached files. When I use 20 mA of 50 MeV protons, I get 1 MW of beam power. I find this value under the "Beam data" menu on the "Main" sheet. When I change to Alpha (Z = 2) I still get 1 MW of beam power. I guess that TraceWin is using P = I*V when it should be using P = I*V/Z, where Z is the number of elementary charges of the particle.

I am currently running version 2.16.6.13 of TraceWin.

Dear Foshea,

You are perfectly right, the error is fixed and you can upgrade your code if you want.

Regards,

Didier
