Cannot find position0 error
Cannot find position0 error
Hello,
Since the recent update of PlotWin, whenever I try to generate an AVI file from a multiparticle simulation result, I get a warning "Cannot find position0" (see attachment) and a corrupted dtl1.avi file is generated. This happens regardless whether I use the "From position" or the "From element" option under "Beam profile". Can this be fixed? If needed, I can send you my simulation project files.
Thanks,
Josh

Re: Cannot find position0 error
Dear Josh,
I’ve just tried it out on a project and it still seems to be working fine, so yes, I’d be happy for you to send me your project so I can understand the problem.
Regards,
Didier

Re: Cannot find position0 error
Dear Didier,
I sent you my project files. I also tried redownloading PlotWin, but I still get the same error with my project.
Thanks,
Josh

Re: Cannot find position0 error
Dear Josh,
I used your project files without any modification.
And with plotwin I made the attached video file.
So I can’t see what’s wrong on your end, perhaps you could try upgrading both codes, TraceWin and PlotWin.

Didier

Re: Cannot find position0 error
Hi Didier,
For some reason, the plt file wouldn't attach correctly on this forum, so I sent it to your email. Do you get the error when you run PlotWin on it?
Thanks,
Josh

Re: Cannot find position0 error
Dear Josh,
Ok I got it, perhaps to big here.
So, that works perfectly on my side !
Are you try "From element" or "From position" ?

Didier

Re: Cannot find position0 error
Hi Didier,
I did some more investigating: It seems that it has to do with checking the box for: Multiparticle --> Distribution output file (PLT) and Losses file (losses_PAR.dat) --> Each period. If this box is checked, then PlotWin will give the error for the "From element", but it will work for "From position". I've reproduced this on a few different projects. Not sure, but I suspect the reason both options don't work for this project is because there is no LATTICE command in the MEBT part of my .dat file. Very strange!

Dear Josh,
I've found and fixed the problem, please have a go yourself and let me know if it's still happening.
