What is the meaning of Zgen in the plt file?

Hi All, I'm pulling the particle coordinates out of the .plt file of a simulation that I optimize and run with space charge both on and off (by setting the current to zero). When I do this I find that the value of 'Zgen' is different between the two runs. I had assumed that 'Zgen' is the z-location ...

TraceWin appears to incorrectly compute beam power

For particles with Z > 1, TraceWin appears to incorrectly compute the beam power. Please see the attached files. When I use 20 mA of 50 MeV protons, I get 1 MW of beam power. I find this value under the "Beam data" menu on the "Main" sheet. When I change to Alpha (Z = 2) I still get 1 MW of beam pow...

Re: Optimization appears to ignore some linked terms and miscalculate the beam size

Hi Didier, Now I am confused about why D4 doesn't show up in the optimization screen, but all of the other linked elements do? As to the SET_SIZE_MAX issue. Why is it "punishing" values below the allowed maximum so strongly? There are two SET_SIZE_MAX commands given, all with a maximum allowed value...

Optimization appears to ignore some linked terms and miscalculate the beam size

Hi Everybody! I'm trying to optimize a system of bends and quadrupoles. I want to use symmetry to optimize the lattice. An example is attached in zipped format, which contains an ini file, a dat file, and a cal file. To enforce the symmetry, I have linked the elements in the way described by the man...

Re: Understanding Phase Advance Optimization

Ohh my, it appears that I didn't notice that the units on the phase plot are deg/m. Is there any way to get that plot to show just the phase? I'd rather not integrate it.

Understanding Phase Advance Optimization

I am trying to understand optimization of the transverse phase advance and I am having trouble. I have attached a sample .ini and .dat file (zipped together) that contains a sufficiently small example. First, it isn't clear to me if the phase advance is measured from the command, as the manual state...
