Question about beam phase and output file

Post by Korea, Republic ofmsh3069 »

Dear all I have few questions about the definition of beam phase and output file.

I try to make simulation data sets for phase scan of cavity.
Therefore, what I want to get from simulation is getting the beam phase and beam energy after I change the phase of cavity.

Question 1. Definition of relative absolute phase

When I plot the absolute phase with envelope result, I see the figure like "Beam_Phase.png" However, if I plot the absolute phase with partran result, I see the figure like "Relative_absolute_phase.jpg". The calculated beam phase may be slightly different when we compare the multi-particle simulation and envelope simulation. Then, those the variation at "Relative_absolute_phase.jpg" means the difference between multi-particle simulation and envelope simulation?

Question 2. How can I get the data at "Relative_absolute_phase.jpg" automatically.

When I check the data at "Density_PAR.dat" and "Density_Env.dat". The "phaseF" and "phaseG" are perfectly same and those data is also perfectly match with data at "Beam_Phase.png". Then, is there any other way to get the data at "Relative_absolute_phase.jpg" automatically?
I also check the partran.out file and see the "delta phiS" which corresponding to "average beam phase"- "reference beam phase" but the data is also no matched.

Question 3. Definition of "delta phiS" at partran.out file

At partran.out file we can see that data "delta phiS" which corresponding to "average beam phase"- "reference beam phase". It looks like "average beam phase" is the average of phase in the particle distribution and "reference beam phase" is same with absolute phase at "Beam_phase.png" Am I right?

Dear SeokHo,

1 - Yes, "Relative_absolute_phase.jpg" means the difference between multi-particle simulation and envelope simulation.
2 - In the file “partran.out”, it is the column “p0”.
3 - yes you're right

I don't know what you try to do exactly, but perhpas the command "TUNE_CAVITY" could be usuful for you.

Regards,

Didier

Thanks for the clear explanation and suggestion.
I will check the command "Tune cavity".
