Transport 4D distribution error

Post by FranceEmmanuel »

Hello,
I,ve generated a 4D (x,x',y,y') dst file from emittance measurements with 200k particles, but while I want to run a test, I get the following error messages : Too few particle, From->[PARTRAN]: Find iptsss, From->[PARTRAN] Library...

I run the test with CW tick box clicked.

The test files and distribution are attached.

Dear Emmanuel,

When I open your file with PlotWin I see the following image.
All the values have to be divided by 1000 and the phases would have to be distributed randomly between -180 &+180 °.

Regards,

Didier

Dear Didier,
My mistake concerning the 1000 divider on amplitudes.
It still doesn't work, with the same error message.
From the vertical and horizontal measurement files, I generate separate txt files with PlotWin, that I merge to get {x,x'} and {y,y'} in the same file. I re-import this file, but which variable use in the fifth and sixth columns ? I tried {z,z'}, {z,phi}, {phi,E} I still don't get a uniform distribution between -180°/+180° as the one I get when I import in PlotWin the measurement data.
Is there a way to merge x and y measurement data directly in PlotWin ?

Dear Didier,

It seems that the frequency value was the issue. Whatever is the distribution in the longitudinal phase space, the frequency here should be greater than 10^-7, even if the beam is CW.

Dear Emmanuel,

There are 3 ways of creating a distribution from an emittance measurement:

- Create the dst binary file yourself, the format is fully described here: https://dacm-codes.fr/Softwares/TraceWi ... stribution

- Import an ascii data file via PlotWin (Menu "Import from ASCII file") see plotwin manual for the two possible formats

- Open directly with plotwin the 2 measurement files of the emittancemetre XX' & YY' (valid only with files from the IHPC or GANIL emittancemeter equipment). See attached example:

Hello Didier,

Does the position step have a special limitation ? I mean, should it be an integer rather than something like 0.2672 ?

Thank you.

Dear Emmanuel,

I don't know what step you're talking about. If it's the "position step (mm)" parameter in the emittance meter file, it takes whatever value you want.

Didier
