Maximum steerer field

Hello Didier,
When performing beam centering with steerers, a significant amount of time is often spent in the optimization process to align the beam on the BPMs. The use of the maximum value parameter in the steerer command should in principle help to constrain the search space. However, it is not fully clear to me whether the maximum value refers to the absolute value of the steerer strength, or if it only applies to positive values.

Can you confirm that the command also enforces the limit for negative values, i.e. that steerers are constrained within the interval -|Bmax|, +|Bmax|, and not just up to +Bmax?

The automatic alignment procedure will depend very heavily on a lot of parameters and on the way you've defined it, so before replying, I'd appreciate it if you could send me a small example (complete project) of what you're doing.
