"select particles" function improvement
"select particles" function improvement
Hi Didier,
For beam distribution, right-clicking for "select particles" is a powerful function. I think some improvement could be added if possible.
1. Rescale the coordinate range to a required region, e.g. from 10 to 100, and "select particles", the selected region is a little larger than what we defined (about from 9.5 to 100+, zoom in to check the distribution edge). Maybe it could be fixed?
2. Invert selection?
3. Only rectangular area could be selected. Is it possible to add other shapes? Like circle, triangle or ellipse?
Kinds,
shliu

Dear shliu,
1: You're rigth, it's fixed
2: Invert selection option has been added
3: Clearly not possible

Didier

Re: "select particles" function improvement
Didier,
Thank you!
About the ellipse selection, how about cutting it according to the edge defined in "Charts - Output - Options - Emittance ellipses"?

Re: "select particles" function improvement
Hi,
Yes, very good idea and much easier to implement.
Added in the last release.

Didier

Re: "select particles" function improvement
Thank you!
Maybe the command "Select particles outside ellipse" is also necessary?
For example, how to select particles inside ellipse both in xx' and yy' planes?

Dear Shliu,
I don't think so, because thank to you, now you can inverse selection

Didier

Re: "select particles" function improvement
The initial distribution:
Select particles in xx' plane:
Then select particles in yyp' plane:
The selected particles are in xx' ellipse OR yy' ellipse. How to select particles in xx' ellipse AND yy' ellipse at the same time?Re: "select particles" function improvement
Dear Shliu,
First select particles in the XX' chart, then in the TYY' chart to have both in the same time!

Didier

Re: "select particles" function improvement
That is the way I did in the last post. Could you please check it?
If I choose it in xx' and yy', some particles outside of the ellipse in xx' but inside the ellipse in yy' would be chosen, which is not my purpose.

Re: "select particles" function improvement
Dear Shlui,
Sorry, I didn't see the "AND".
Ok, it's done in the last release

Didier
