Dear Didier,
Recently I'm simulating mixed charge state particles in TraceWin, so sometimes it is a non-integer, like q=5.7.
An approximate way to solve it is to set q=6 and increase the mass to guarantee the same magnetic rigidity, but it's not so convenient.
Is it possible to set non-integer charge states?

Beam charge state suggestion
Re: Beam charge state suggestion
Dear shliu,
It probably seems trivial to replace this integer with a flaot variable, but believe me, it's a pretty big job and very risky and I'm not really inclined to do that. We are talking about thousands of lines of code to change without forgetting a single one.
The important thing I think is ultimately the q/A, so you could play with the mass to have the same effect, no?
You have also the posibilty to transport 2 different beams in TraceWin in the same linac.
Regards,
Didier

Re: Beam charge state suggestion
I see. Thank you!
