Partran energy

Post by United States of Americawtam »

Dear Didier,

Charts -> Energy generates a plot for energy vs z. One curve is for "Linac" and one for "Beam".
I believe the "Linac" curve uses gama-1 in tracewin.out.
How about the "Beam" curve? gama-1 in partran1.out does not seem to give the same curve.

Best regards,
Wai-Ming

Dear Wai-Ming,

In all cases, "linac" corresponds to the perfect designed machine and always comes from the gama-1 of tracewin1.out. "Beam" corresponds to the beam itself, including any input errors but also the machine's RF errors and the offset due to the beam's centre of gravity, which in multiparticle mode is not at the centre of the particle distribution. In summary, "Linac" is the perfect machine, "Beam" is the simulated beam.

Didier

Dear Didier,

(1) What does gama-1 in partran1.out represent?
(2) How can I calculate the energy shown in "Beam" in the the energy plot?

Best regards,
Wai-Ming

Dear Wai-Ming,

It's energy from "gama-1" column + W0 (10th column)

Didier
